Default Reaper 4 fully accessible?

Hello Reaper Community,
I am a blind musician and have a question about Reaper V4.
first of all it is just great that you do show a great responsibility towards handicapped people. Many blind people I know do think exactly the same way.
Is Reaper V4 "FULLY" accessible with Voiceover on Mac, or any Screenreader on Windows?
Especially the Midi Editor, Plugincontrol options and FXP Support to load Samples are important.

Welcome to the forum!

There are some people using REAPER with VoiceOver and Windows screen readers within some limits. But I think while MIDI editing should be possible from the list editor, some VSTi could be not that accessible and there is a lot of shortcut-editing involved.

There are a few threads where this has been discussed, I hope you'll find some useful information:

Default Yes, there is some work underway

Hi,
Looking into unofficial beta builds, it is apparent that there is some work that has gone into making Reaper 4 accessible on the Mac. I do hope that Reaper developers will crunch out all the minor bugs, but all in all, things look quite promising.

Thanks,
Vic

There's also a web-browser control plugin for reaper now that might possibly be more efficient for screen readers. It's very extensible. Not sure if the page refresh built-into it would be a problem for keyboard navigation but might be worth checking out.

Hi Victor,
do you use Reaper with Voiceover, or with a Windows Screenreader?

Send a pm to christophe, schwa or justin.

They are the core developers of reaper.

This is probably more a question of what specific functions you need/want/wish, for example the recent version got some VoiceOver compatibility fix/improvement due to user feedback guiding the devs. AFAIK REAPER wasn't designed to be specifically accessible, but it's accessible by "design" and many things can be done now, if you mean plug-ins, that's something only the plug-in creators can improve but REAPER can display a "GUI-less" plug-in GUI that could help in some cases.

Have you found the post from kaaijmusic?

Maybe you could PM him for some assistance with setting REAPER up?

Hello guys!

I am also a blind musician from Germany and I tried Reaper and am very glad that there is an alternative program to Sonar. Maybe you know, that Sonar is now available in the version X1, but this will no longer be accessible to blind. Here is a link to an article:
http://www.jsonar.org/drupal/content...-sonar-x1-blog

So I'm looking for an alternative application to make music. I'd be glad E.g., if midi would be accessible and maybe instrument definitions could be imported in Reaper. That were only some examples. With Sonar X1 it no longer would be possible to work independent without sighted help, and what I see in Reaper is imho a great step. I hope this thread will be read from many blind users.

Hello all!

I'm gladly that the developer of Reaper try to make their software accessible for blinds. I'm already pleased about a soon complete usability.
