ShoeLace 4
wAltered Shoelace "2" theme for Reaper 4. To avoid confusion,
I've added the same major version number as Reaper for which
it was made.
Download Shoelace 4.0.0
Last Update: August 15th 2011
Credits:
- Lamda, for permitting me the use of his Transport code
- Makai & pattonfreak1 for their original Cubase themes
on which Shoelace 1 was based on.
It's very personalized and with basic modifications,
so there are features that are not done completely or
compatible as I do not use them.
I've included my Top Toolbar and Main Toolbar set in the
.zip file, if you wish to use it, it basically moves all
main toolbar features to a "floating" toolbar docked at
the top, so that area can be used for other funcitons,
while i've added most View Options in the Top Toolbar.
Currently includes only two Layouts for TCP&MCP, default
and with width slider below pan, plus a Cubase-like layout
for TCP.
ShoeLace4 splash image is available in: ShoeLace4.ReaperThemeZip/ShoeLace4/shoelace4_splashscreen.png Known issues:
- track icons displays over certain elements
- track plugin parameters do not display
- when mixer resized to minimum height, there's
an area where background slides strangely behind
pan/width elements
Feel free to comment, modify or update the theme with
your optimizations and tweaks.

as devez pointed out in stash comments, if you are using
toolbar TEXT elements, you will have to recolor it to
white to make it readable, Preferences > Theme Editor > Toolbar button text and resize it (but at a cost of resizing transport &
vol/pan text at the same time as there is only one parameter: Theme Editor > Volume/pan label font e

That looks nice! How do you align the buttons of the toolbar on top to the left? They're always centered...

So heres some feedback.
- I don't see it as issue that plugin parameters don't show at tcp, (would like to see that as an option at preferences or track menu some day)
- mixer folder collapse button missing. :/

Not sure, are we talking about the same thing? I was
referring to "Show plugin parameter in track controls":

Not sure which function you are referring to,
but I don't use any folder/parent/child/etc.
features on MCP so I did not include any there.

Well I think it is outstanding and when it matures overtime, the thread already holds the spot for it.
Keep up the good work!

About parameters, we talk about same thing. Not issue for me if those are missing.
And that folder button on mcp, I meant that button which shows/hides children tracks. But thats ok if you are not going to put it there.

Sorry, you have to unpack the ReaperThemeZip as well to
access the splash screen (with winzip/winrar/etc.). I will
upload the next iteration of the theme with splash screen
as a separate file within the "installer" zip.

First of all, great work! I switched from Cubase to Reaper, so from time to time, I may change to that skin! Feels like the old days when I was afraight of possibly loosing my project 'cause Cubase crashed while saving all the time
Anyway, effect's slot text looks strange.
I guess, this is due to some font you use not being supplied. Or maybe you are on Mac and used a standard font that's not in W7 font set? Can you upload it?
Meanwhile, I've replaced it with "small fonts". So Windows users, use this one!

Hey Dave,
thanks for feedback. The font used was verdana, so it should work on
both platforms. The issue is that volume/pan & all info text use the
same setting, so as I prefer smaller fonts the text looked clear enough
on OSX, but may be slightly harder to read on PC. Eventually I hope
Cockos will give us seperate parameters for volume/pan fonts.

You're right about Verdana. So, it's because (your) Mac uses different PPI for fonts than W7 (didn't change that setting).

The font is too small (unsharp blurry edges/edge points), it should either be +1 or "small fonts" at this size.
When using "Small Fonts" it looks like this:

Strange. Setting Volume/Pan label font back to "Verdana" won't change the db scale, same for applying some handwriting ttfs. Are you sure it's "Volume/Pan label font"?

For transport/fx/vol&pan yes. But obviously not for meters,
will have to look into that, and see how compatible those
fonts will be with OSX.
