Default Edit Cursor positioning in the ME

When the play cursor scrolls past the right edge in the main window, the arrange view always returns to the edit cursor and places it a little to the right of the left edge of the Arrange view. This is good.

However, in the Midi Editor the view does not even return to the edit cursor much less, place it a littl to the right of the left edge of the play area. There is an action to return to the edit cursor but that always centers it in the play view which is not ideal for working with or editing. It requires a lot of extra scrolling to position it properly and it can be difficult to get it positioned just right.

What we need is an action or way of positioning it in the ME like it works in the arrange view. Below you can see the difference when you hit stop in the two windows.

How about the rest of you?

Humm, I hope I explained it well enough. I thought that most all who do much editing in the midi editor would run into the problem.

I do find it strange that Reaper doesn't already scroll back to the edit cursor like in the arrange area.

This is the Ideal way it should be.

No, you did explain it well enough.

Maybe nobody answered yet because the list of problems people having with the MIDI editor is too long still.

However, I agree.

Thanks Data, and yeah heh heh, I'm just trying to zero in on the ones that seem to affect me the most every day.

Fully agree. Another of those small midi behaviour issues that causes headaches in Reaper.

Thanks Eyes and daxliniere, I'll see if I can put together a FR for it later today or tomarrow as time permits.
