View Full Version : Metronome when playrate != 1
I notice when you change playrate that the pitch of the metronome click (if using a file) changes too.
Is there any practical reason for that? Shouldn't it just play the same sound and the new rate?
(incidentally on a visual note, the difference in length of Metronome & Secondary beat fader tracks in the Metronome Settings window do make it look a bit odd if you place both at the same volume level! Could they be made to line up? cheers!)

if you are using a file, then it too is affected by the playrate, as are all the audio files in the arrange window.
Indeed. But should it be? ;)
For me there is no real logic in hearing your audio click sped up or slowed down to accompany the playrate (as would be the case with a MIDI note) - but maybe there is a different view?
I would much prefer to hear it at the normal pitch.

normal pitch would be better... but I don't think you can using playrate and an audiofile based metronome... reaper pitches everything except samples in a sampler like K2

that's why i love working with midi (synth+sampler) as much as possible :)
then tempo- and playrate-changes are fun :)
