View Full Version : Loop selection shortcut behavior ... (SOLVED)
RESOLVED - THANK YOU! (see last post for Justin's explanation)
While playing, the Loop Selection: Set Start Point and Set End Point shortcuts initially set those points to the play cursor, but after clicking any timeline item they then set the points to the edit cursor.
Not sure why this should be - is it known/intentional?
Dandruff/Tallisman any insight into this? It feels like an inconsistency, but I'm wondering if I am missing the point - ie. if it is actually consistent with something else!

if you've moved the edit cursor after starting playback, it uses that position.. if you hit ' after modifying the edit cursor, it will use the play cursor again.. this matches the marker dropping logic etc..
With marker dropping + loop in/out selection it seems to be taking the position from the play cursor - even after I have clicked elsewhere on the timeline to move the edit cursor.
Just to check, shouldn't clicking on an empty space in the track (with "seek playback when clicked in empty areas of tracks" switched off) move the edit cursor?.. visually it certainly seems to, but then when I use a shortcut to set loop in/out selection, the edit cursor jumps back to the play cursor.
The edit cursor only seems to move properly if I click on media - is this correct?

correct.. if you click to move the edit cursor+seek, then it is still in "play" mode..
if you want to force it to go to the edit cursor, you can use "... (or assign it in a macro to view: go to edit cursor or whatnot)
