i select two tracks (using ctrl-click)
i go to menu and group selected tracks
i click a third, non-'grouped' track
i hit ctrl-g and nothing happens when its supposed to 'select all grouped tracks'
grouping doesnt seem to work for me, any hints?

there is no track grouping.. the grouping actions you see are for item grouping, not track grouping..
Hmmmm - would be so great to have simple track grouping tho' :) It's another thing that ex-ProTools types (like meself!) miss.

I'd personally be happy with a way to set up track selection groups just by selecting a bunch of tracks, "Save Track Group as..." then hit any shortcut key. To recall that group (ie re-select the tracks) you'd hit "Select Track Group..." and then the same key. When doing either of these a popup window would show status like:

Maybe others (eg heavy control surface users) are after a way to gang faders independently of selection, but I certainly think there are some benefits to being able to store & recall track selections to quickly mute/solo/arm & drag fader levels etc (handy for the live performers!)
Yummy!
