Recording automations from plugins

Hi,

is it possible to record automations out of plugins?

There are some plugins like BassRider oder Hornet AutoGain which are generating automations while playing, but I have seriously no single idea how to record/write that in Reaper.

Could someone please help me out?

I'd like some info on this too. I know for example my plugin will not do that yet. Some plugins have good midi controller support, those you can automate by sending midi messages, maybe someone can give more detail on that.
Then there are plugins that have VST parameters but no midi, on those I don't know.

You should never use any plugin this kind. I give you teaching project how to do auto gain, because I too used Bass Rider and Vocal Rider. Now I don't need in it.

I don't use those plug-ins, but it seems to me that you are confusing some concepts here: afaik such plug-ins do not "generate automation", they apply volume changes to the signal *directly* - no automation is involved.

Typically, if one wishes to record automation of a plug-in parameter, one would simply manipulate the corresponding controls on the plug-in GUI, while the track or project (global) has its automation mode set to "Write" (or "Latch", "Touch"), then play pack such automation in "Read" mode).

Moreover, one does not need a plug-in to automate track volume. On the TCP, right-click the track, and select Envelopes > Toggle volume visible (or simply press the default shortcut: "V").

Of course it does not *need*, BUT such tools like AutoGain or BassRider giving a nice advantage against e.g. compressors.
