VST plugins being displayed but with empty name

I suddenly have a problem with my Native Instrument Komplete plugins pack:

Plugins are detected within reaper, I can use it BUT VST name is "VST:"
No name appears anymore.

Any idea why it has disappeared? Was working perfectly before.

What has changed recently?
Where are you not seeing the VST name?
Did it start with v4.402?
What happens if you install an earlier version? (You can install v4.4023 again later)

Some Native plugins have been updated recently but not all of them (problem occurs on all of them and even other Focusrite plugins that were not updated).

If I click on the button FX of a Track, then ADD, the window that usually display VST (typically I have some customized reaper vst folder to organize things in this window) display "VST:" instead of "VST: Guitar Pro x86" for example.

I did not try to downgrade the version but it has been running correctly with 4.4023 before

OK, can you find your reaper-vstplugins.ini file in the AppData folder? (click [Options] >> "Show Reaper resource path ..."

Copy it and open the copy in a text editor. Copy and paste a few lines from there (including Guitar (Rig?) Pro) here.

And check in Preferences that your VST plug-in path(s) are OK.

So missing VST names relate to partially incomplete entries in the ini file!!!

So I have remove the vst and vst-rename ini files, rescan VST and everything is back!!

Good oh :)

Looking at the .ini file contents, the Meldaproduction and Steinberg plug-ins scanned OK but none of the NI ones or others did. No idea why.

Deleting (renaming) the .ini file and doing a Rescan is, as you found, a good idea.

I make a back-up of my Reaper .ini files every so often (if only for comparison with the current versions of the files.
