View Full Version : Maybe a silly idea ... but

...a couple of times now I've lost edits because of computer issues (mainly VST pluggin problems), and since I forget to save every now and again its a real bastard.
I'd never use auto-save features as sometimes I like to test edit mixes, but what would be really handy is a option to show a icon somewhere on the main track screen that shows save status (maybe red if modified, green if saved or something?)
I know the task bar shows the saved status of the project, but I don't notice it as Im working as there is a lot of text up there.
Just an idea

As soon as you do just about anything the save status changes. In any kind of normal use that indicator would be on "unsaved" almost all the time.

Thats true. Maybe then its only on when track related edits have been made?

but what would make you remember to look at the icon that indicates whether you have saved or not?
an auto-rename on ctrl-s with a time and date stamp feature, bundling all saved versions in an archive that looks like a reaper project icon would be a really good feature for any daw.
on double click, the most recent save would open. other saves could be accessed from a pulldown menu in the gui somewhere.
thats right, every time you save and a change has been made, a new file will be created and added to the archive.

100% agreed. that's standard-behaviour in so many applications. save-icon is greyed out (and doesn't do anything when clicking it) as long as no changes are made in the project!
you can autosave to a timestamped file. that gives you control over what you save in your main file but total recall when reaper crashes!
