Tick 'start last project on startup'.
Make new project with a couple of very short recordings for testing sake.
Save project to desk top.
Close project.
Drop project in Recycle bin.
DO NOT EMPTY BIN.
Open Reaper.
Drag project directly from bin to Reaper (thus opening the project).
Close Reaper.
Open Reaper.
The last project is there, but where is the project file?
In the bin.
Strange.
Open project again. Record a bit more. Hit save.
Where is this being saved to?
The bin.
Strange.
Over and out.

I think there are 2 things strange here:
1) that you would want to to do that
and
2) that Reaper let's you drag from the recycle bin to open a file. (AKAIK, most apps don't let you do this without restoring the file first.)
Non-issue to me.

That's why I labelled it 'quirk' rather than 'mother of all massive bugs'.
The third strange thing is that you can save to the file while it's in the recycle bin.

The "Recycle Bin" is just another folder on the hard disk. Albeit a slightly different folder...
D
that's no bug at all!
actually you might discover a bug when you try to restore a file recorded into the bin. that file has no information stored on where it was deleted from so where will it go? either it goes somewhere boring like "C:\" or your Desktop or something funny happens.

I normally try retarded stuff too when testing to see if the app will break or not, just in case there are any morons or idiots out there using it.

This is why I wondered about 'proper' beta testing - when I've beta tested commercial audio apps (albeit only twice) in the past, it's been necessary to do loads of stuff one wouldn't normally do on a day to day basis just to see if you can break the app.
I don't think 'well, don't do it then' is a valid response to a bug or a report of strange behaviour even if the bug/behaviour can only be brought on by doing retarded stuff.
