I'm not sure if it's just something I'm doing but...
1. Start a new project.
2. Insert 2 tracks
3. Grab track 1 and drag it to appear below track 2
4. Now press "Insert MIDI item" or "Insert media file..." in the insert menu.
Although the track you dragged appears to be selected, the MIDI or media item gets inserted into the track that now occupies the first position. If you now drag track 1 down again, the item will still get inserted into the track at the first position.
I think this behavior has been present for quite a long time. The same thing happens if you use a keyboard shortcut to insert the item.
It seems to me that the MIDI or media item should get inserted into the track that appears to be selected.

Argee, sorry mate, but i can't reproduce this. Reap works as it should for me, with the insert going into the selected track, BUT, when i move the track, i always then reselect it, and position the edit cursor to the insert point.
I tried it though, without reselecting, and it still goes to the right place.
Not sure what else to offer here, as a possible solution.
Alex.

Well, thanks for trying Alex. :)
It happens pretty consistently for me. I know that if I click once more on the track that I want to insert to, it works OK. That's why I posted this in nitpicks, as it just seems to be mildly incorrect behavior IMO.
What's worse is when there is already an item on the unselected track and the cursor is at the beginning of that item, the new item gets inserted BEHIND the existing item, which means in some cases you don't even know it's been inserted. This has caught me a few times.

just thought I would bump this, as this behavior is still present and rather puzzling to me - does anyone else get this when re-ordering tracks in the TCP?
