Hi,

I have a metal file cabinet beside my desk and my M-Audio Firewire 410 sitting on the desk. I am often plugging in and unplugging cables. I want to keep my cables neat and tidy when they aren't being used. I thought it would be a great idea to secure a magnet to the sleeve of the cable (just wrapped some electrical tape around the magnet a couple of times) and then when the cable is not in use I can just snap it to the side of my file cabinet. This way I can have four or five different cable ends organized (not lying around tangled up)lined up on the side of my cabinet ready to grab and plug in. So the question is ...

Would the magnet cause any interfernce in my signal?

If nothing is moved, a magnet will not do anything. But the more magnets are around, any movement of a cable or so near the magnets might cause induction.
Why not use velcro cable ties or cable holders used in electronic laboratories (with slits for hanging the cables)
