View Full Version : Incidental Instrumental

Here's a short, jazzy instrumental I put together last week. I'm thinking of this as "incidental" music for a film or video, rather than a full-on composition. But (to me) it has a nice groove.

Recorded in Reaper:
- True Pianos Atlantis module
- Tapeworm Mellotron emulation (voices, strings, flutes)
- MiniMoog VSTi
- live bongos, percussion, bass
- BFD2 & drum loops
Also a big help from GS-201 tape echo VST - what a great plug in!

This is a great piece. I agree it has a "nice groove". The swoopy synth adds a nice feel. The latter half is a great change. Almost makes me think of a 70s rock thing.

Thanks for the listen Oceanographer - I appreciate the feedback.

Yep that's nice. Now for something you didn't expect... I dig the drum groove, reminds me of "no loot" by tony toni tone.

I like the '70's sonics, nice and soft. Good for tired ears.

Yep,I concur, the swooshy Synth sound has kind of a hooky sound. You must feel proud and good.

I like. The snare sounds a bit like a cardboard box, but it works.
Also a big help from GS-201 tape echo VST - what a great plug in! I'm intrigued. Nice price, too.... I might have to take it for a spin.

Thanks all... Lol at the snare being a cardboard box! I did use a mid-pass filter on the drum loop, as I wanted a more processed sound. There's also a second MIDI drum track with the punchy bass drum on the other side.

This is fantastic. I really liked "never let me go" and now this as well.
