Hey,

today I've composed a small piece for guitar. It's not very long so far but the important parts are recorded.

I really want to add some orchestral/strings to it and have already tried something.
But it's still only a sketch of what I was looking for. Now I hope someone who is better than me at scoring, will take this chance to make something special out of the tune.

Attached is a ZIP-file with the project "Journey_Forum.RPP" and 2 FLAC-files inside.

Open the project, then you'll see 3 tracks:
[1] Guitar
[2] The strings I tried (Audio)
[3] The strings I tried (MIDI)

EDIT:
Here's a little preview (MP3) for those who don't want to download the whole ZIP:

Very nice, lovely guitar playing!

I don't know how much time I'll have over the holidays, but I'll give it a shot :)

I think your strings sound fine, overall a nice sound as is. I was involved with a project a year ago,we took a song and laid down band tracks, guitar, bass, piano, drums, then I did orchestration for it, here's the song
The orchestration starts around 1:21 and ends @3:304, written in 3 parts https://m.soundcloud.com/steve-wisnoski/the-light-inside-of-me
If cerendir gets busy, maybe I can help, I have the time. Anyway, you can message me. Good luck.

Oh yeah, I played the guitar on the track and did the arrangements. I visited cerendir's Site and read his blog and listened to shadowplay, great song and recording. I found cerendir's blog especially down to earth and honest. Refreshing in this arrogant backstabbing cyber world of aspiring film composers I have been trying to break into, which is not here, the reaper people have been really nice. Anyway, happy holidays.

Thanks for your offer, Steve! I listened to the song and like the composition. But the orchestra sound quite unrealistic to me. I mean, I like the voice leading and decision of instruments but it's just the sound of it... What library were you using there?

So, um, would something like this (https://app.box.com/s/vlei3bbdqemy1ada12lt) be okay? Or do you want me to stick to your original strings part?

This is a very quick sketch though, the levels are all over the place and maybe the orchestra bit steals too much attention from the guitar part. Just wanted to try out some melodies that popped into my head when I listened to your tune.

I'm Using gpo4, and this was one of the first projects I worked on with it. Thanks for listening.

I dig the melody of the 2nd part (from 0:27). Really cool, but the first but to me is a bit too much.
Maybe it could develop from mainly harmonies/chords in the first part to melody with chords in the second?

EDIT: Your edit began with the 2nd part, right? :D So, did you leave the first few secods of the piece solo? Then it would fit quiete well. Thanks for your work so far, I really appreciate it :)

Hmm, I thought it would have sounded better when I read about GPO :D

I would still appreciate, if you have the time and notion, to hear your ideas :)
