When I select Edit, Reaper tells me that no external editor is selected. I was under the impression that Reaper had its own editor. Where can I get a basic primer on how to edit with Reaper?? Perhaps we can start a wiki or something in order to develop documentation for the Mac version.

Also, adding those little descriptive tags when you hold the mouse over something might be a good idea. There are quite a few icons/buttons that I can't figure out what they do. It's not from a lack of trying, as I've remixed the demo track so many times I'm singing "Making Me Nervous" in the shower :)

It doesn't ... that's the same behavior as Windows.

I do not have an option to assign an external editor in the latest build that I can find.
Does one actually exist?

Cheers,

Paul.

OK :) I took a look at the Windows documentation (I can't seem to find any Mac documentation) but many of the editing and navigation commands refer to key and mouse combos that don't seem to work in the Mac version. Then again, Windows uses different names (eg. Macs don't have an "Alt" key). Also, I could not find a description for what the table of icons on the upper left side of the window do. Some of them I was able to figure out, but others didn't seem to have any noticeable result.

Hmm, perhaps we are not talking about the same thing, but i just used the midi editor in OSX 060; are you talking about audio editing and not midi editing?

I was referring to audio editing, but many of the same issues would apply to MIDI editing.

The external audio editor configuration bits aren't in the Mac version yet.

Thanks for that, I thought I was tripping.

Ugh, I'm so new it's sickening. Hi! They call me chester.
I have just installed Reaper on my imac. I'm running OSX and discovered this topic while searching for the same problem. Now what should I do? I have been using Audacity for simple single track editing for the last few years. I was shocked to find that I can't do it with Reaper. Or can I?

I don't know if you can use Audacity, but you can launch it as your External Editor by going to Preferences and setting it under the "External Editors" selection.

I use Amadeus successfully this way. I haven't gotten Reaper to launch anything but TextEdit for text files though. :(

Best!

Hey thanks! I dl'd the beta version of Audacity to try as an external editor but no joy as the same message appears even though Audacity is set in preferences. I also tried Reaper itself - no joy. I'll go look into Amadeus.

Well, I finally had a few minutes to install the trial version of Amadeus. I can't set that as an external editor either. Again, like Audacity, it shows in the list but doesn't open when I double click the track.

I have cruised around this site to try and find an answer but no luck. Can anyone help me? Thanks a bunch!
