View Full Version : MIDI File Import Track Naming

I wanted to mention this because it really pisses me off.

Please lose the track name tagging on MIDI file import.

I hate having to rename 20+ tracks to get rid of the "- <filename>" additions, like: "Piano - PianoMidiFile". It wastes about 8 minutes on average (for the stuff I've been importing so far).

I don't think if I was importing a lot of MIDI files I'd really give a rat's ass what MIDI file a track came from.... I think I'd know, really.

At least add an option in the preferences to disable it or something. It's such a fruitless and irritating thing to do.

Thanks.

PS. I know I'm whining about how Reaper annoys me in these ways (this thread and the other thread I posted a moment ago about the render-stems feature), but, seriously, REAPER RULES! Why else would I be doing a long-winded process to transfer my album project from SONAR to Reaper? (exporting MIDI, removing all FX, then freezing track-length files for each track to maintain timing/etc, copying audio over then importing it all into reaper for mixing/etc). Maybe Reaper rules because I can say that this MIDI-import thing pisses me off *now* and something will be done about it next week. Not like with Sony/Cakewalk/etc when any small ideas aren't implemented for a year or two.
