this is driving me nuts...
I finally decided to map the knobs and faders on my controller to various parameters in Reaper.
This has led to the discovery of some quirky shtuff that is driving me crazy.
In this image, I have 2 tracks in Latch mode. I am using the controller to write fader 1 & 2 volume changes and track 1 pan tweaks. Look at the mayhem occurring in the undo list!

If i write automation using the mouse on a fader, and if I do that for 15 minutes, upon hitting stop the undo list gets one entry called Record Volume Envelop.
Here I have looked at what is going on in greater depth. Track one is in latch mode, and track 2 in touch mode. I have discovered that touch mode is all but useless for writing automation with a controller that is not touch sensitive. Reaper seems to be telling the fader to jump back to then original value after each CC message.

IMHO, it would make better sense if reaper created a single undo-history point when writing automation, rather than one for every envelope point. If I want to undo only the last few points, i can do that manually, but if I want to undo it all and try again, i have a sea of undo points to navigate.
