Annoying, is it not, that the track channel VST input/output routing window thing does not stay open when you assign?

Mostly you are wanting to do something like say, change the input from say channel 1 to channel 3 and channel 2 to channel 4.

So, you have to open up the window, select channel 3. Open the window again and deselect channel 1, open the window again just to make sure you have done what you wanted to. And then do it all again for channel 2.

And then do it all again for output. (And I always have to check again because of very low level residual OCD :)

Would be much easier if, like a lock-in at your favourite pub, it just stayed open till you'd done with it, no?

Yeah, i had a little grizzle about this recently too.

Hopefully this gets a little attention in due course.

Maybe Youn has just re-opened the bar gents!

What'll you have?

*Edit*
Hang on not sure that's right. Don't think I quite understood what Youn's plug does. Not to worry, what'll you have anyway gents?

Yeah, that's always bugged me a little too. A shift+click modifier to select multiple ins/outs with the default being select single would be nice too.

Yes +1 for that IXix

I rarely say this...

but i'd like an apply or OK button, or just the knowledge that until I click the 'x' or hit escape those little windows will

Ironically (having been delighted to see them removed from other routing scenarios) checkboxes would seem like a good idea in the scenario.

Whatever the resolution though, +1 to having a less-clicky way than the current method... (and ideally not a solution which requires new users guessing a modifier!)

Did some channel routing action this weekend (in Reaper that is).

The problem is not just that the current methodology is annoying and time consuming. More importantly, it is very difficult not to make mistakes because you can't get an overview to check your routing.

It is difficult enough trying to keep in my head what I'm supposed to be trying to do with channel routing without added impedance from the methodology.

Of course, ideal would be some sort of graphical interface where you can design, build and see all the routing and fx (parallel or otherwise) across a track . . .

or tracks . . .
