Hi there.

While the concept of the Media Explorer is pretty cool (very cool, actually), I miss a "back" and/or "one folder up" button. Unless I didn't see it (very much possible), it's a quite tendious job to browse my samples library without such buttons.

I wish we had those buttons too. Did you know that you can use the "backspace" button on your keyboard though.

*Sigh* We're getting old Dandruff...

Back in the not so good ol' days, I probably typed "CD.." half a gazillion times a day... do I miss it? NO!! :)

I do wish I could use my mouse button for this though. Even though I'm fully aware of the actual back button, I instinctively click the mouse first with my thumb (side button) out of habit, even to this day!

this was my idea for the 4th and 5th mouse-buttons: http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13057

Oh dear...

I started this thread yesterday, right before I went to the studio. When I was there, I started Reaper, to check if this feature/nitpick was still there. And almost immediately this damn ".." button jumped right into my face. I haven't felt so stupid in a long, long time... :)

Anyway, I still have three things I would love to see implemented in Reaper, concerning the Media Explorer:

1) Configurable 4th and 5th mouse buttons like suggested by Dandruff.

2) The "back" function remembers the last position in the directory tree. So, for example, if we go back from directory "XYZ", the focus will be on the directory "XYZ", and not at the beginning of the containing directory.

3) The shortcut ALT-leftArrow acts similar to the "back" button. (Just like good ole' Windows Explorer does.)

Now if someone tells me these functions are also already there, I will keep my posting limited to newbieland exclusively from now on. ;)

I did NOT know this - thanks!
