All is in the title. Is there any possibility to make and use bigger toolbar icons, say x2 or x4 ones, to use them with a touch screen ?

Of course it is possible, look at this old theme: http://stash.reaper.fm/theme/1182/Smoking.ReaperThemeZip

From what I remember it works better if all the icons are the same size in the toolbar

It is possible but may also depend on how you set up your toolbar. The regular icons are 30x30, 90x30 for the whole image comes from the same icon having three possible states (side by side). So for example double the size you'd have 180x60.

Caveats: The biggest sized icon defines the row height and column width for all the icons on the same toolbar, so resizing the toolbar may get funky. The blank icon background image gets stretched to the new size and may also need adjusting. Going for bigger icons on a docked toolbar may not work if theres no way to adjust the size of the dock...eg. in the top.

OK. It works now. Thanks Xpander and Serenity.

There are two options somewhere (under Appearance, maybe?):

[] Don't scale toolbar buttons below 1:1
[] Don't scale toolbar buttons above 1:1

If you untick one or both of them, your toolbar buttons will be resized to fit the space they're in.

Well Lokasenna, it works in floating toolbars, but not when the toolbar is docked on the right side.

Works here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7231524/big%20toolbar%20button.png

I should rephrase what I said, though - it looks like they'll only go double or half the original size, rather than just fitting the space. In that picture, the button is the biggest I can make it go without editing the theme.

Absolutely not these are 64px, but I talked about custom icons on the upper left side.

Scaling effect works fine except that icons will be stretched and looked blurry. If you want all icons big, change the toolbar_blank to want you want the icons will be not stretched:
