Howdy,
Trying to sus this out. Reaper is crashing -lots. Over the past two days I've collected a summary of the information contained in the "crash reports" (not sure if that's the right term.) (See below.) I hope the arrangement of the information is not confusing.
SOME NOTES:
-Computer: Intel 6600 quad core, Gigabyte MOBO: GA-P35-DS3L, Kingston 800 ddr2 2 gigs,
550 Roswell PS, Gigabyte GV- RX24T256H vid card (Radeon HD 2400 XT).
-Audio interface is Delta 1010LT latest drivers, 256 buffer, on it's own IRQ.
-0xc0000005 is typically the "code" when I click for details regarding the crash.
-Not every crash includes an "error" report, or some message about why the prog failed, about half the time
Reaper simply disappears, and I'm back to my desktop.
-I ran memtest for 3 hours yesterday morning (3-8) -no errors.
-Twice yesterday I got the following error message: "Melodyne Uncaught exception GNOutOfMemoryExeption"
-Melodyne continues to make a sort of "ripping" sound whenever the cursor is placed within a waveform that has been tuned. When I have a look at the plug, the "transfer audio" section of the GUI is shifing back and forth between "playback" and "transfer" as if the plug is receiving audio to analyze -reaper is at a full stop.
-I haver a demo copy of Live 7.0.2 on the 'pute. Loaded up with plugs and tracks -no problems
Reaper is FAB! I will die if I don't get it working smoothly.
Thank you thank you for any thoughts/help!

1. independence free.dll

This might be the problem. Indy free is a nice idea, but has a very crappy and lousy windows port. The Mac Os X version is OK.

The only reason when Reaper is crashing are vst plugins, that doesn't fit the vst standard, reaper can't catch it and so segfault.

I'll agree with this one - Indy Free got itself into a mess too many times for me to want to buy Indy proper.
