simply renaming items don't work

I would need to rename all the items/takes I have, but with the Macbook Pro its not working, maybe it's because there's something with the graphical card I need to adjust. I just cannot rename items through item properties, neither preferences; when I doubleclick it says the external editor ain't connected, might be that? I'm working with the 0.72 version

just continued searching -like the last three hours - stimez it's working sometimes it doesn't and if it does, it renames also the original file, so could somebody tell me where I can find a solution? or are u all just using one take on one track and never renaming it? thx
