fire an action by a Midi event

What is the recommended way to fire an action and/or to start a ReaScript by a Midi event ?

In fact I want to start if from a JSFX. I do know that I can use MidiToReaControlPath to push a Midi CC towards the ReaScripting engine.

I do know that as a workaround I could use SWS LiveConfigs to receive a Midi event and fire an event, but this does not seem very appropriate.
