Hi, everyone! Before I dig a hole on something I want to know, I wish to congratulate everyone at Cockos for the work done so far on Reaper.
I've been in the recording business for over ten years and I currently own a PTHD based studio in southern Brazil and I started using Reaper on a PC aproximately a year ago and I soon got very excited with the features and possibilities I've found!! Not that I'm currently using it comercialy, but it sure looks like a promising alternative in the near future. I've been actively spreading the word about it and got several of my friends to try it, and most of them seem as excited as I am after they tried it!!!
Now I'm using a MacBook 2.2 Ghz/2 Gb RAM and I'm trying every new version of Reaper that comes out for the Mac.
One thing I'm missing on the Mac version is the ability to record to the mp3 format. Is it possible to do that at all?? Someone can help??
Thanks!!!

Exportar (ou bouncear como os pro-tooleiros falam) para mp3 ainda não rola no mac.
No fun for us mac users at all... yet.
I've made a similar post a while ago when I found out there was no Export to mp3 option avaliable...

It's really easy to convert WAV, AIFF and other formats to mp3 using any number of external programs. Visit Versiontracker and do a search...you'll find a bunch of alternatives.
I don't have my MBP here, so I don't remember exactly which utility I use. I think it's Max, which is freeware and works just fine.
Or you can just use iTunes.

yeah, but it's not the same as just export the mp3...

And actually, what I miss the most is the ability to record straight to mp3 format besides exporting to it. I do use the mp3 option in PT and it really speeds up the process when doing ref mixes.

A high percentage of Mac users use a program called "SoundConverter" to convert audio files to MP3
http://www.dekorte.com/projects/shareware/SoundConverter/
Although a better idea would be if Justin could enable Mac Reaper to use the MAC version of the LAME MP3 encoder - similar to the "Export to MP3" technique used by Reaper for MS Windows.
OSX versions of LAME encoder (PPC, Intel) are here ( hint hint)

ok in the next big build you'll be able to install libmp3lame.dylib and it'll get used. :)

Thanks Justin, that's great!
And yeah, bouncing to mp3 is a time saver when you need to send reference mixes via internet.

Man, where else can one get all this value and fun!?!?!?
Justin, adding the use of mp3 encoder will be nice for a next MAC version. Thanks!!
