the demo crashes the Reaper 243 Beta for Mac OS X.
is this because of the .ogg samples?
if so, maybe the demo should be made more Mac friendly?

Could very well be ogg, but Reaper can read ogg so that may not be the issue. Here's the crashlog from my Mac Mini:

Reaper's a great app, I've been using it on PC, IMO it gives Pro Tools a serious scare, and I like the eq.

What can I say? Reaper does all the same things, without the several annoying legacy issues that exist in Pro Tools. For example, Reaper can work with stereo, split stereo and files of various bit depths within the same project. VST plugin support is also a major plus IMO. Reaper is as intuitive, probably as fast a workflow once you've learned it, is more regularly updated, and works with a wide range of hardware. And, the price is very keen.
Perhaps the routing in PT is better, but Reaper is catching up very quickly.
What's not to like? For now, PT is my main app becauase I know it well. But when Reaper is Mac friendly, I will certainly use it in tandem, if not completely replacing PT.

thanks
but surely Pro Tool is better when it comes to audio editing? Pro Tools is rubbish at hosting NI plug-ins but i have not come across a better software for editing audio.

I've been learning PT recently and the only advantage I can see PT as having is the shuffle mode and the audio pool for loops you've made. I haven't (personally) found any other editing features Reaper can't do, or can't do better. The amount of time spent changing tools is infuriating.
