Hello,

I'm here trying to work a tune in reaper. Basically, I have a hi hat loop which plays at 119bpm. Now the bpm of my tune is 170, so I had to tempo map the hi hat loop. So after tempo mapping, the loop is playing at the correct speed, but something is wrong. When I solo the loop and play it back, I can hear if flawlessly for about 2 seconds, and then the output sounds chopped. I'm checking around and it looks like my cpu is being maxed out. I find that odd because there is no fx's on the track yet.

Here is a pic.

If you notice on the transport controls, there is a red bar there. My guess is that it's probably related to buffering. Any advice on setting up smooth playback?

Yeah, the item being stretched is making it use timestretch (which defaults to elastique Pro I believe -- you can set it on the item or in the project settings). What CPU are you using?

I have a 1.42 GHz PPC G4

One thing I've noticed when I did the tempo map.. it applied the tempo globally. I though this would only effect a sample. Is there a way to timestretch a sample instead of applying the changes to the whole track?

I'm also going to give freezing a go... see if that changes anything.

[EDIT: I think you may have answered my other question... going to experiment now]

[EDIT 2: Yes you did answer my question. I just had to set it to the single item. Now only certain things that I stretch are effected and everything else remains unchanged. Plus.. I'm getting flawless playback with no jitters or drop outs!!! Thanks Justin!!]
