As all attempts have failed to solicit an answer from Administration, can any one tell me when Reaper for OS X is expected to move beyond beta to a full-fledged version?

We haven't figured that out yet ;)

Salutations Justin,
Great to hear from you. But do you all have any idea at all? In the pdf manual v2.v, compiled in July, it states that the OS X version will be available within the next few months.
Also, since I've got your attention, can you give me an answer to my other post regarding AU: Apple MatrixReverb? I would very much appreciate your considered reply.
Regards,
Odysseus

Odysseus - Justin is not just the administrator - he is the principal! - actually coding - like a demon!
I imagine that time spent answering our posts is time taken away from doing the critical work to move Reaper forward... If you havem't heard back about the AU Matrix Reverb preset issue, its probably because it has not yet been fixed - give it a little time, there is a lot going on in Reaperdom...
I've been following the Beta development carefully for a couple of months - The mac Beta has made great progress as I've watched - my guess is that it should be rocking around the end of the year.
To see and discuss what's been happening most recently check out the "prerelease discussion" forum. and welcome...

Regardless of the title Beta within the OS X version title, the only difference is the Media Explorer at this point, which is coming real soon. They are very into making things work smoothly at Cockos, which is why it's still Beta. I'm sure when they feel they have exacerbated the Beta version through enough testing with less and less problems at all, then it will be changed over to non-Beta form. Until then, it's very usable.

Thanks for the MatrixReverb input, Semiquaver. And I'll certainly browse the "pre-release discussion" forum.
Thanks, too, for the welcome.
I'm already using Reaper effectively and am impressed by the way it handles. I just need to boost my OS X 10.4.11's processing power; as it stands it can't cope with more than five tracks at a time without suffering dropouts. Reaper renders beautifully, however; it's just a bit difficult multi-tracking.
I raise my glass to the demon, Justin

Odysseus - you may want to check your audio device latency settings - this can have a bnig impact on how many tracks you get / dropouts etc.
go to preferences>audio>device and try a larger block size.

The more specific you can be in regards to your system and REAPER downfalls will help the Cockos Trio.

Thanks for the information and support. I appreciate it.
I can imagine that Cockos are into doing things well; I have a good feeling about the team. And Reaper is a great product; I agree that it's very usable.

Semiquaver - it's set at 512. Does this not relate somehow to the Mac specs: Processor - 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5; Memory 512 MB DDR SDRAM?
How much should I increase it, do you think?

Hello Odysseus, and I'm glad you're making progress with Reaper.
Your system looks a tad below spec for heavy multi-tracking. I'd say that your cheapest option, short of a new rig, is to fill your RAM slots to the maximum. RAM is cheap and gives the best boost per dollar, imo. If each slot takes larger than the 512Mb stick you currently have then sacrifice that stick for a bigger brother. Somebody else will likely buy it from you , thereby offsetting your new investment.
I've got 2Gb in the rig I'm using now, 4Gb in the one I've just built and my dog is probably bigger than yours too. Ho ho.

+1 on moon's suggestion ... Ive got 4 gig and 2 dogs :) ... it wouldn't hurt to try a 1024 blobk size in the interim. and make sure you dont have other apps running ...

That's a very big dog you have there! I'll follow up on your formidable advice. Maybe invest in additional hardware, too. How are you finding the Reaper landscape?

Okay I'll try 1024 block size. I always shut down all other apps when recording, just to keep Mac's 'i' focused. Thanks.

Odysseus, I have several redundant sticks of DDR RAM , CL3, Crucial CT6464Z40B.16TG2, 512Mb. I don't know if they're good for MACs, but if you can use any I will be pleased to post them to you. My machines are now DDR2.
