So far so good, so now Im gonna start wishing and dreaming
Ignore this post if you want to keep your sanity
I cant quite * comfortably * mix an album yet here, as Im missing a few things Im used to, but it seems that most of these are already in the to do list, which I am utterly thankful for!
1. Aux sends - for sure. It would be UBER super nasty fly def ill if we could have some options above and beyond what most apps offer. In the real world, sure you can plug whatever send you want to whatever in you want, and any other send to any other in. But inthe DX/ VST world, we can only access ALL inputs of any plugin with ONLY one fx send. This means that the paradigm the apps offer isnt always whats needed.
The paradigm send follows pan. Works AWESOME for keeping a drumkit in the right reverb space. Pan your drum left, and your aux send sends to the left of the plugin...perfect....usually...too bad it got "broken" after vegas 4
The paradigm mono send/equal l-r send on a stereo send. Works good for some stuff, and is "technically correct" if you are following real world console architecture....HOWEVER as mentioned above, in the real world, you can have send 1 go to left input of your SPX90 and send 2 go to the right input of your SPX90...in the plugin world you can't do that....so sometimes good sometimes AWFUL!!!!
Lets say you want to send a kick drum to an aux buss left side of a compressor plugin and the bass to the right so that you can force the kick to sidechain the bass. For that I propose a new paradigm, aux send with independant pan. Maybe you could turn this on or off, maybe three modes...
little switch dealy menu, right click the fx send and you get this:
a) Pre/post send switch
b) fx pan follows pan
c) mono send
d) Independant pan control
might take some gui wizardry to make it palatteable, but different situations call for different solutions, and we dont have the benefit of a patchbay
2. Outputs! Seem to only have one output available right now. Vegas' separate output busses with their ability to either send to another buss or go out a hardware out seems to work well, my only complaint that there is no way to make a mono buss that only sends to ONE out instead of its stereo pair
maybe we could have a router button on the busses:
a)Master Buss
b) first buss, next buss till the last buss
c) Hardware Stereo
d) Hardware mono
3. Sensible grids! One thing that absosmurfley MURDERS me when editing is if a band changes tempos in a song. You know who can only have one tempo at once...OUCH!!! Being able to show the grid correctly after a tempo change would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOO awesome!
4. Ability to have an option to have the grid showing CLEARLY, yet not having snapping on! Oh how sweet life would be
5. Resizable frames. Id like the track header to be able to stretch a bit, as I tend to keep the mixer and track headers on one monitor, with the track view stuff on the other monitor...ok I know Im really scraping here :)
6. Show/hide channels and busses in the horizontal mixer. I dont need to see the horizontal mixer EVER hopefully, if the track headers can pull all the functions as they seem to be able to right now
Always dreaming....no matter what where the app goes its gonna kickass and it already does
