This is a rough mix of a band I recorded a few days ago for a school project. Please go easy on me as this is only my second recording and I know its not anywhere near perfect. Sill I'd like your guys's constructive criticism. http://stash.reaper.fm/v/2138/Akosted.mp3

People are gonna spank you for the panning, because thats one thing that can massively affect how far you can destroy the song by smashing it. Panning hard means lower volume overall

but tell em to SUCK IT

people don't buy "monos" they buy "stereos" I say...STEREO RULES!

These guys sound like Ugly Americans fans. Pretty kickass!

Thanks for the input pipe, I appreciate it. Before I read your post I did make the panning a little bit less extreme, so you may be the one telling me to suck it now. I think that overall it sounds a little better now. I uploaded it to the stash this time also. http://stash.reaper.fm/v/2138/Akosted.mp3

Very good song!
How did you record the drums (how many mics? how many tracks?). They need some more power. Guitars are ok for me. I also like the vocals.

The drums were recorded with akg c451s for overheads, an AKG D112 on kick, and a 57 on the hi-hat, mid tom(there was only one), floor tom and snare. I sample replaced the snare with 30% sample and the kick is 100% replaced. I know what you mean about the drums needing more power it is what I have been working towards the most. The biggest problem is the toms. I don't want to sample replace them but they just sound so distant in the mix even with the levels extremely high. Anyway, I updated the mix but it isn't quite there yet in the drums department but it got a little better.
