Well, I finally managed to finish off my own version of the Doom 2 videogame soundtack, named "The Doom 2 Variations" (because I took some liberties with some of the songs, added guitar solos, etc.). It took so long because of my recovering from wrist surgery - so some of my guitar playing may still not be that great yet.

The MIDI was all done in SONAR HS6, and exported out as WAVs/MP3s. Then the audio was imported into Reaper where the rest was done - i.e., all guitars, additional effects, and mix/mastering.

It's available for download from a whole bunch of places - here's the linX:

Kudos to the original composer of these songs, Mr. Bobby Prince!

AWESOME!!!!!

:D

I remember when I first saw Doom II - It was the most badass thing I had ever seen. I had previously played Wolfenstein (And the precursor, Spear of Destiny), as well as the original Doom, and needless to say, I was seriously impressed.

Many MANY hours spent playing this game when it came out!

For your next ptoject, you should do DUKE NUKEM!! ;)

These are great! Heh, I remember when Doom first came out my PC couldn't run it smoothly. It was a 486SX/25mhz with 4MB of RAM and 100MB HD....

I no longer play games on that machine, I use it for my primary DAW now. =)

ThanX guys - I guess the folks at the Doomworld forums also like it:

A few of those guys are trying to embed the new soundtrack songs into game mods of their own. I'm totally psyched about this.

The only problem is that I can't actually play first-person shooter games anymore. I get "simulation sickness" really bad.

Well, thanX again, and I appreciate any feedback or constructive criticism.
