I can't figure out what the number should be here.

I want it to play note 40 of a piano keyboard.
I'm sending 40, but it's playing something much lower

Any ideas?

Hi,

this is not the number of a key on your particular keyboard (your 40th key). Its defined in general. A Note 40 is ALWAYS an E of octave #2. Now what your particular keyboard will actually play is again something different. You could have set a transpose in your instrument, of course.
