I finally got a copy of the New York Studios Vol. 2 for Superior 2, and did this quick test of the Hit Factory kit. Man I love this room. I don't even have my V-Drums and Superior dialed in on the velocities yet, but it's a way fun kit to play. Anyway, here's a quick first test I did with it.

Very, very nice sounding kit. I'm going to have to consider getting these... along with Classic & Vintage, Joe Barresi and Metal Foundry...

why in the hell did i bother learning how to play drums? other than i have no idea how to use this type of software? it would've taken a helluva lot less time to figure it out, i know that.

I've wanted this sample set since I first heard it. The snare sound is just perfect, and needs no reverb or other room simulation.

The drums you hear on this are a live recording of me playing them from this pad kit.

that makes me feel a little better. i guess the question would then be way have i wasted months of my life tuning, micing, and mixing acoustic drums. :D

those tracks sound good, man.

Nuttin' wrong with knowing how to record real drums. I did it that way for 10 years with a set of Ludwig Octa-Plus drums in an isolation booth with 12 high end mics on the kit. You can't quite see the kit, but it's on the other side of the control room window.

Anyway, having worked with real drums and real mics makes Superior Drummer 2 feel right at home, because it's literally just like working with a real kit, with bleed between mics, and room sound, etc.

I switch back and forth between my pad kit, my live acoustic kit,

and my acoustic cocktail kit that I have in my studio,

very nice!

Tanks Mon! I'll be playing the live acoustic kit tomorrow at the club where famous jazz legends Jimmy Rushing (featured vocalist of Count Basie's Orchestra from 1935 to 1948)and Charlie Christian first got their start.
