I recently started using Reaper to remove the bass from mp3 to allow practicing my bass with the song. Works kinda well with eq and highpass

I would like to pull out the drums to use for practice, without all the other stuff.

anyone have an idea on how to come close on this. I know it would not be perfectly all drums, but something that the band members could practice to without the drummer is my aim

thanks for any help

Ken

EDIT: Nevermind, I misunderstood the question...

You can try and do a basic midi pattern of the track and then use some VST plug in to make it sound "real"
As for extracting the drums I don't think it's possible

oh, it's possible, just a reasonable amount of work to get there and you need a drum sampler. Gonna be hard to use the original drum audio since the drum kit frequency span is too large to notch out of a mixed mp3 file.....

Lawrence spells out a technique here:

Good luck!

IMO, it might be easier to program a midi drum file that matches the song close enough to rehearse to and play it thru a drum program.

Doesn't the method described try to copy the drums to midi and not extracting the actual drums ?
