in the spirit of technogremlin's freeware thread, and inspired by a recent thread by karbomusic: let's hear something that you pulled out of a free synth or two. here's some free playing jizz with 'oatmeal' over a drum loop/bass that i did a good while back. not really a song, and i'm not really a keyboard player; i was getting to know oatmeal (and synthesis in general) a little, and it was fun, so there....

Your links wouldn't download or play?

This was a little thing I did with free VSTs except for the drums,

I love little mess-abouts like this. They sometimes breed full songs.Bit too much top-end to me on this one making it brittle but a good basis for a song in there I think.

Boxnet is way better.Very fast downloads and easy to navigate and I like it's ability to update songs/files and keep the old links.

i agree. too much top, sounds really grainy.

i've used google to host files in the past without any problems, not sure what happened.

Is it OK if I just post one of the ones from my old thread? Heading to a gig and don't have time to create a new one. :)

Automation bit me in the arse on this one... The synth type solo at the end comes in way louder than it was supposed to. I some how bumped or moved the volume envelope before hitting render. Oops... I believe everything is free except Addictive Drums. The synths are all free though:

SYNTHS:

Bloo
Micromoon
Chimera
Superwave P8 (x2)
Daedalus
GTG FM4
EVM Bassline

FX:

Tal-Dub
Tal-Verb

Guitar Part:

Gibson Les Paul Studio / POD X3

It's really only me... meaning it would actually be good if it were more than just me playin. ;) I'm a rocker normally so this type stuff takes me much longer than it probably should!

can't replace that chemistry between players. maybe someone will make a plugin for that.

Came 2nd in the KVR monthly contest (April 2010) with this piece using only freeware synths and effects, which won me Alchemy as the winner passed down the prize. :D

Nice job, I like this. I have not tried Voyager, ZynAddSubFX or Dr. Fusion so I'll have to grab them and give 'em a shot.

I made this using the free versions of some HG Fortune synths (and some other various sounds). I am in a Judas Priest tribute band and we use this as an intro to The Ripper. :D

Haven't heard of HG Fortune but this clip sounds great.

Did you get it from KVR?

No, pattonfreak1 turned me on to them. Some wild stuff! I can imagine what the non free synths can do.

there's a bunch of stuff on youtube also.

Guenter's stuff rules.
For spacey ambient stuff he cannot be beat.
He also has a couple of "lead" synths that are excellent as well.
I (being gigawatt) was lucky enuff to get an endorsement deal from him.
He's a great guy too.

I've only had time to check out Avatar ST.

I have to agree. Very impressive. Every preset is freaking top notch. Best synth I've seen yet.

Still gettin the hang of that particle generator.

Was messing around with another Synth called Arturia tonight...

Put together a cover of part of the Blade Runner intro.
