Hi all!

Here's a song of the progressive metal Belgian Band "hyphen8"

I made everything with Reaper from recording to master (I'm not part of the band, I just produced the song)

the song is "The Bigger Man"

Sounds great overall Reno. I'm not a fan of the snare sound and I think the heavy guitars could be a bit more 'in your face'. But that's just personal preference. You did an excellent job!

Good sounding band.Bad sounding Myspace. It ruins any music posted on it IMHO.

Go get a free Reverbnation account as well as your own site.I'll add as a fan and they don't crush the hell out of the uploaded files(Max 10 meg per song).

See sig.

Note:some of my songs on my RN account are rendered at 128k ABR and sound better than 320k on Myspace.

You'll see more than a few of us here prefer Reverbnation to MySpace.

Much better audio quality.

I second Shep's motion! :)

great sound, btw. Bring the gtr up! :D

Great, super-tight performances on the band and a really cool sound. Please pass it on.

Hard to give thoughts on the mix since it's on myspace. I can tell you that the hit hat sounds a little unnaturally panned left, like the drummer is kind of playing it over his opposite shoulder.

Where the music drops out and there is the spoken "Sick and tired of being the better man", I know that it's a purposeful effect to have the plain spoken vocals that loud, but I personally never like that. I always think that would sound better if it was at a natural conversation level. I can never actually figure out if this is done on purpose for effect, or if the song is just so compressed that the unaccompanied vocals sound super hot. I think it's a creative choice in this case, correct me if I'm wrong.

The end section (5:18 or so) gets too overwashed with so much going on. Synth is too overpowering maybe? Maybe this is a myspace thing. Not sure. I don't want to step on any creative toes here. It doesn't sound intentional though. It just sounds like that particular synth part is too loud (IMO).

Sounds really good though. I don't think I could mix this. It would be too complex for me at this point.

Good job man.

thanks for your comment. And, I'm agree with you.

but, I worked for the band and I let them the last word about some details and artistic choices

Like the drummer of the band say to me about 100 times "it's prog... things don't have to be natural all the time"
