the lag when clicking on the timeline ... (SOLVED)

I notice I get a terrible lag when clicking on the time-line in a big project. In other DAW's clicking the time-line makes the song jump immediately to the position and start playing regardless of the strain on the machine (at least I think so - I'm no techyhead). Clicking in Reaper has good moments of 1 second lag and bad moments of up to 4 seconds or longer in a heavy project.

That's not so good.

I also get the same lag time when creating a new track by pressing ctl.+ t during playback and sometimes when stopped as well. It's like Reaper is pausing to think where it's gonna move stuff to squeeze in a new track...

Anybody else experience this lag?

Do you have smooth seek on? It's under options. If this is on it waits to seek at the end of the measure. Is this what you are experiencing?
