View Full Version : Create New Directory (FIXED)

When I'm choosing a path, and I want to create a directory using the "create directory" button in the browser, the newborn directory dosen't show up after creating it. I have to cancel out of the browser, go back in and then it's there.

This is when browsing for the recording path in project properties for instance, but I believe there are other browsers that this happens in too.

Also REAPER never remembering last used paths in any of it's windows is a BIG annoyance. It's almost as annoying as Vegas getting stuck on some path no matter what you've opened. lol

FIXED (1.856)

Hi James - what OS & Service Pack?

The new directory shows up fine here (XP SP2) in save project with the new folder button and also with the recording path in project properties "Create directory" button.. in both cases it's instantly available for me.

So maybe Windows-related?

Also re last paths not being remembered - you mean never as in none of the windows, or a specific window that never remembers?

When I go to open project that's always the last used path. With ReaVerb files the same goes.

Obviously not gloating about it - just hoping this is useful feedback to see if it's an O/S problem or some setting somewhere.

Cheers

James,

I noted exactly the same behavior, I 've come from Cubendo so always create a new folder for each new track and you're right you have to close the newly created folder explorer window then reopen it to tell reaper where the new project is to be placed.

I think some of the points mentioned about other windows not being remembered is a OS thing as it happens with lots of programs, that's one thing mac OSX does better than XP and a thing my MAc friends moan about a lot when using windows.

I am using a commodore 64. Could that be part of the problem?

No actually I'm on Windows 2000. SP 2. I didn't think to mention that. thanks.

I am talking more specifically about the Media explorer when I mention REAPER not remembering the last used path. I'm not exactly sure about project properties. Is this different from your experience?

I've been threatening to finally go XP "on my next clean install"
The comp at the studio has been on the same install since 2003. (not connected to the internet) and is still very stable. So who knows when that's going to be. (I guess whenever I'm motivated to do it and have time)

James, XP has been the best windows OS I've used,it just works, has had a lot of time to mature, very very stable.I used to be a great one for being first on the block with things but regarding XP I'm staying put for the foreseeable future,i've NO reason to move to Vista ATM.Win2000 was very good but XP took the best bits from it and made a better multimedia OS,I always had midi timing issues in 2000.

I have the issue as well. Not a show stopper, but would be nice if it was fixed

I have this too. It needs to refresh the directory list after creating the new directory.

I thought I was going nuts at first.

excellent!

I'll have to re-learn my behavior of hitting cancel after naming a directory... lol.
