- if one closes the docker window, ends reaper, restarts reaper, [now the docker is not up], ends reaper, restarts reaper, the docker window is back up... strange behaviour.

FR: if it's not up when ending reaper, it shouldn't be up when restarting.

- if one 'maximizes' the track height and if there is the space for it,
it would be nice to have a whole row for the text field,
maybe one for the faders, and maybe one for the buttons, meters,
BUT the text field is the focus here.

- if one saves a vst preset, closes the FX window, reopens it, the name of the chosen preset is not in the preset window.
this could be useful from time to time...

cheers!

++1 This would be useful ALL the time!

If it's not a bug fix, this should be an FR.

I'm kind of glad the preset names aren't saved so easily, I'm alway accidentally erasing mine by pressing spacebar while tweaking a plugin.

1. choose preset
2. click on vst/i knobs to tweak
3. press spacebar to play and oooops! I've just erased my present name.

Shouldn't the present name loose focus when you tweak the parameters of a plugin? I put this in as a feature request, but maybe this is a better forum.

SO glad this got bumped... 2 months on (from my +1 above) and I'm still tripping up regularly with spacebar overwriting program name after changing the VST Program.

Trying to remember to use ctrl-space to get round this just is not happening for me - and I really think the user shouldn't need to be thinking of that rule/workaround when flicking through presets at speed and focussing on the output.

Is there really no way the focus could move to the window itself after changing this, but still send up/down/home/end/pgup/pgdn to the combobox control when in that state?

Alternatively what if a spacebar action when the whole program string is selected was intercepted and started playback instead of overwriting the name? (would you ever want to start a program name with spacebar anyway?!)

Being able to flick through programs and hit play is pretty much something I do every few minutes (of very long days!)

If you can help with this Justin that would really mean a lot - thanks ;)

In addition to your first point, if you open reaper, turn off Snapping, close and re-open, its selected! It's an annoyance!

Is this because it is selected in your default project, which is what opens every time you start Reaper?

No, don't use one, Reaper opens blank.

check this prefrence:

if not, then it is looking for a default and that may be the issue.

some more docker issues;

if you 'dock' the midi-editor, its submenus [file/ options/ ...] vaporise...
this goes for the FX browser as well.

if you open up the mixer in the docker, then save the project settings, REAPER remembers sometimes somehow...
[to have the mixer up, when ALT-D, as the default setting for a new project]
however, when you push CTRL-N, the docker shows up [don't want that!] and shows the media explorer... wtf.

if you push ALT-D, the docker shows up, NOT selected -
as this is the window you probably want to get working in...

...

now FR;

- if the docker is not up when ending REAPER, the docker is not up when [re]starting REAPER. [and vice versa]
projects that are saved behave in the 'same' way...
- all the 'show in docker' things can be set in the order you want [in the docker],
this order gets saved in the project settings.
- if you use a shortcut like CTRL-M AND if the mixer has been 'docked' for your workflow,
REAPER will show the mixer inside the docker window [window size remains UNALTERED...]
- please fix the submenus
- the 'tab' for a docked midi-editor should remain visible in the 'tab' row at the bottom,
however not accessible when no midi in the project/ maybe with message 'NO MIDI'...
when a midi item is inserted in the project, the midi-editor becomes accessible when needed.
- when pushing ALT-D, the docker window is up and selected.
- ...

...

furthermore BUGBUGBUG

CTRL-P window looses focus when you go down the menus with the arrows until 'external editors', then tab forward to 'apply' and then press spacebar to confirm 'apply'...

that's it for today.
i apologise if several things don't belong here [FR etc] or
if i addressed some things that are incorrect/ solved/ have a logical solution etc.
but hey, there is little time!

cheers!

+1, tired of pressing ALT+D at every new opening of Reaper.

Beside, Reaper should remember ALL last settings, save the ones part of the default settings, on every new project.
