+ MIDI Filter Events Box: Allow multiple MIDI items to be selected, simultaneously.

+ MIDI Filter Events Box:
Allow multiple MIDI Items across *multiple* Tracks to be selected, edited, simultaneously. All this within a single MIDI Editor.

DISCUSS: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=59051

Imagine grouped editing ACROSS MULTIPLE TRACKS for MULTIPLE MIDI events:
- Multiple Items
- Multiple Bank & Program Changes
- Multiple CC data
- Multiple Filter Events controls

Editing multiple MIDI Notes:
1.) Position (time)
2.) Transpose
3.) Left/Right MIDI Note edge resize
4.) Velocity Handle edits
5.) Compress/Expand Note lengths
6.) Mute/Unmute Notes
7.) "Multiple Note Properties" box (all parameters)
8.) Select all notes/cut/copy/delete/join/split notes (under mouse cursor)
You get the idea. ALL MIDI Actions & gestures across all selected MIDI events/parameters, whenever possible.

Editing multiple Continuous Controllers (CCs) & Program Changes:
1.) Adjust position (time) of Continuous Controllers, in multiple lanes
2.) Adjust/write (CC values) of Continuous Controllers, in multiple lanes
(precise, FAST, grouped crescendos/diminuendos!!!)

"Filter Events Box" Batch Button Select:
Track controls:
1.) [M] ('Track Control Panel Mute' box)
2.) [S] ('Track Control Panel Solo' box)
3.) [R] ('Track Control Panel Record-Arm' box)

Media/MIDI Item controls:
1.) [M] ('mute Media/MIDI Item' box)
2.) [V] ('visibility' box)
3.) [X] ('close item from MIDI Editor' box)

These would be *HUGE* time savers!!!

=================================================

User Interaction:
How to select multiple Media/MIDI Items & toggle buttons in the Filter Events Box?
Simple. For consistency with Arrange view behavior,
select them just like you would on the TCPs in the Arrange area and in Microsoft Windows Explorer.

For non-contiguous selections:
1.) In the Filter Events Box, hold Ctrl + LeftClick on any 2 or more Media/MIDI Items Color Boxes or Text Fields in the list.
2.) Perform an edit of any sort on a single selected MIDI event to simultaneously edit ALL selected MIDI events!

For contiguous selections:
1.) In the Filter Events Box, LeftClick top-most Media/MIDI Item for desired selection.
2.) Hold Shift, then LeftClick on another Media/MIDI Item in the Filter Events Box to select a contiguous range selection of Media Items.
3.) Perform an edit of any sort on a single selected MIDI event to simultaneously edit ALL selected MIDI events!
=================================================

We can already do this stuff with most things in the Arrange view. Imagine if we couldn't edit multiple Media Items like we have been able to for years. It would take much longer to do complex edits which make audio editing in REAPER so easy and fast.

I hope this doesn't require a complete overhaul of the MIDI Editor code. It would make REAPER MIDI editing a breeze for me and many others!

PLEASE & Thanks,
Mike

Hey Ollie, could the title be amended to "+ MIDI Filter Events Box: Allow multiple MIDI items to be selected/edited, simultaneously."

As many users request multiple item editing and may miss this as it isn't in the title.
