MIDI Items Obey Timebase by Default
They should Ignore Project Tempo by Default.

Discuss here: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=114766

Currently MIDI items are locked to Beats(position, length ,rate) timebase, regardless of Project Timebase.

The only way to get MIDI items to respond to timebase correctly and consistently with audio items when changing timebase is to enable the option "ignore project tempo" in the item properties for every individual MIDI item.

Breeder (thanks!) created actions so this can be done for multiple items at once, but if you forget to do it once in a while, you can wind up with a very sticky mess that can cost many hours to fix by hand. Unfortunately, I've just learned they don't work correctly with pooled MIDI and gradual tempo!

One new preference option could fix all this: "New MIDI items ignore project tempo by default (and follow tempo map, instead)."

Would also solve this problem:

In the meantime, it's been pointed out (by LugNut) that a recent release of sws extensions contains actions to change this setting on a multiple items at once...very nice!
