Build Routing confirmation
.... better generation of outputs and track labels

Build Routing confirmation

Request:
In this confirmation window
a) allow the user to enter a prefix for the label of each output track
b) generate sequential track numbers after the prefix
c) if no prefix is entered, generate the default track labels (as at preset)
... and more, read on.

Benefit:
-- More intuitive track labels, without having to do it ourselves

Reason:
-- Some VSTi are not good at supplying names: this enables the user to use the labels he/she wants and makes those labels unique (for ease of filtering etc)

Implementation suggestion: See last post for latest mock-up.

Great, great, great idea. Just what I need and would use a lot. Instead of multi renamer from Xenakios (sorry) :)

Excellent idea!

One might suggest this could be expanded for newly created tracks too, or even do a 'Create New Tracks w/dialog box' or something similarly named.

Another good idea was raised on this Issue:
http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=412
so I have incorporated into this one:

When the Routing Confirmation window is displayed, also show the proposed number of channels in a drop-down box and let the user pick a different number of channels as desired.

See last post for latest mock-up.

Also, Rename the buttons to be more meaningful:

"OK" -> "Create multitrack routing"
"Cancel" -> "Create stereo routing"

Another good idea was raised on this thread:
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=70527

-- Add a choice to the window to show the tracks only in the Mixer
-- if unticked, then the tracks are shown in the Arranger too,
-- if ticked, then of course, you can then select them and make them visible in the Arranger later

See last post for latest mock-up.

I have also shown that:
-- the drop-down list only shows the maximum number of channels that the VSTi supports (32 in this case),
-- the channel routing list shows connected and unconnected channels if the number of channels selected is less than the maximum.

A few more ideas from Subz:
-- drop-down: make [x] number of MIDI tracks,
-- check box: hide MIDI tracks in the MCP,
-- check box: put instrument & all tracks in a new Parent Track (with a Folder End track too),
etc...

August 2011: See post below for latest mock-up.

New mock-up added. Summary:
-- enter the output track name prefix,
-- pick how many output channels you want (you get the first "N"),
-- or pick the individual output tracks,
-- say if you want them visible in the Mixer only,
-- pick how many input MIDI channels you want (you get the first "N"),
-- say if you want them visible in the Arranger only,
-- say if you want the Instrument and tracks inside a folder (with a Folder End track too).
