slow double click on item (take name) -> rename it
making a slow double clock on a an item renames it.
as under windows:
just (slowly) hitting the left mouse button twice, you can easily rename the actual take name.
I think itīs better than pushing "F2" after every record and rename it under item properties.

f2 is annoying at any case...
I prefer double click to open the item properties...
anyway, I think that faster double click on the name bar should allow direct renaming...

note- slow double click is a bad idea.
a simple double click on the name is good enough.

Fast double click opens the item in editor. I would hate to try to open one but get name edition instead and when the items are little... there's a lot of possibilities.

I think that having to use different speeds of double-click is much too fiddly. Must be a better way.
