"Haptic" and touchscreen seems like another completely weird contradiction.

OTOH, in fact there no necessity at all that the control interface and the audio software need to be in the same housing. A decent control interface remote-controlling a VST plugin seems like much moire viable (unless you are out in the wild with only the iPad and no PC or power socket around).
