It does
but it is a bit different as you have to initially import media on arrange view, it could create more tracks than necessary, and you'll have to delete them in this case.
Also initially importing media in the project may requires more precautions (deactivating ripple, auto fade, auto fade at import etc). That's why I made a version which works directly at file import.
Also my script supports parent track pattern.
But of course mpl script can be very nice in a lot of situation and perfectly usable in lot of cases.
