Didn't he say that the source of the piano samples was an instrument at his college (or whatever) and maybe he "stole" the sound of it without proper permission? Once can have a very complex discussion about "ownership" in this context - and one could extend it to the rights and wrongs of taking unauthorised impulses from concert halls - but maybe that's for another forum!
