With Sony ending development of Vegas Pro it's a real pity Reaper doesn't have a strong basic video editing structure and OFX plugin support. That would have attracted many Vegas users who are looking to switch since Reaper is so similar.
Sony has gone multi-platform with it's Catalyst group of products which are pretty basic at this time.

Apparently a very vocal section of the Reaper support is strongly against any video development fearing that it distract the developers from their original purpose and maybe rightly so.
However it is my view that in time most video and audio editing developers will be forced to advance into new territory to survive. We see it already happening with programs such as Blackmagic's Davinci Resolve 12 which has added vst plugin support and new and improved multi-track audio editing features and for free!
I remember the days when it was considered taboo to combine midi and audio in one program, I wonder.....are at that place once again?
