Have just quickly tried what it might look like with modifications of knob color, knob alignment and background color.
My impression is that especially knob color makes a BIG difference.
It gets even better with either changing the background color or the knob alignment to get a good distinction between plugins, EQ-bands...
When looking at the pic I'd rather prefer modifying background color instead of knob alignment.
