I'm going to be switching from Mac to PC (considering Hackintosh) for my main system & using Ableton Live on a mac as a performance sequencer & another as Vienna Server..... Dante for audio networking between Reaper & Ableton.

I'm considering AMD Threadripper or Epyc. A dual 32 core Epyc would likely kill it on huge projects ..... the problem is the clock speed for live processing of soft synths might be an issue. My understanding is that plugins being live monitored tend to stay on a single thread. So threadripper might be a better option for the increased clock speed vs EPYC.

Am I being an idiot & should just build a Win/intel box?
