I think the size of the I/O is fine, since it balances that section out, but I agree that using the gray version for whatever 'state' the I/O is in would be better.
When the button is orange it really detracts from seeing what state the 'M' is in.
not sure about changing the size of the Pan label.
It depends on whether you need that space for when the Stereo or Dual Pan modes are used.
I think making the text for the track numbers larger would be a plus.
