During programming our own plugins I have noticed that automation has a bug. Nothing happens when plugin is setting automation in write mode but with closed GUI. Reaper is holding old value even if automation fader is moving.
Reproduce precedure:
- install plugin that can change values in automation with closed GUI. You can use free dpMeter II, that can write loudness in automation. (

- place audio track (non constant, for example a song)
- insert plugin on it
- if it is dpMeter you should activate writing to automation (AUTO has to be set to "ON", screen1)
- play song with opened GUI - automation lanes have recorded data (screen2)
- close GUI and play file again - automation lanes have no data (screen3)
I have tested with Reaper v5.40 (32 bit version), on Windows 7, VST2 32 & 64 bit and VST3 32. Every plugin from listed have this same issue.
If you need any additional data, please let me know. I think it is important to fix it because some plugins can change automation with closed GUI (like remote controls, meters etc.)
